    27 = 27 + 1

    …Ms. Computer Science, read it again. I don’t believe I’m the dumb-arse here.

    Actually, you used the post-increment operator, so the value used on the RHS of the == comparison is 27. Furthermore, you performed that post-increment operation on a literal value — any decent compiler would optimize that out.
