Theater
Watched a production of Shakespeare in the Park today - The Tempest. Good acting, nice weather, nice park. Did not understand the play, mostly because I couldn’t understand what they were saying. But I got to stay outside on a nice summer evening, so it was fun. Had munchies and champagne afterwards too, so that helped with the appreciation of the play even if it was only in retrospect. Happy birthday, Radka.

Doubles
Happy father’s day to my dad, and also, happy 60th birthday.
I went up Mt. Monadnock for the first time this year with Glenn. We started up the trail at 7:30am and we took exactly 58 minutes going up with a 2 minute break. We stayed at the top around 15 minutes, and it took us exactly 58 minutes to get back down. 58/58, that gives me bragging rights, I think. We started early because it was going to be a hot day, and I had to be at church, and he had to be at his son’s graduation party. It was a good hike.

Discoveries and Activities
Stop Whispering (from the album Pablo Honey) has been my favorite song the past 2 days. I can’t believe I hadn’t listened to this album before!
And I watched episodes of Marmalade Boy Saturday and again last night. Yay to cheesy Anime romance! Miki - heart - Yuu.
Went for a jog at 5:30 Friday morning, followed by a 1.5 hour bike ride in the evening.
Did my first 4 miles Saturday morning. Took me 50 minutes. Geez. But, I didn’t stop, so that was good.
Went for another 1.5 hour bike ride Sunday afternoon around the back roads of hilly Putney, VT. I was the trailing rider for the whole ride, there were 6 of us.
Did nothing Monday.
Rollerbladed in to work this morning. Frisbee at lunch. I think I’ll be getting a ride back this afternoon.

Falling Behind
I am falling WAAAAY behind on my training! I’m not even training at all now, it seems! Since last Sunday, I’ve only run once, and only 2 miles! Eeks!
Well, last weekend, I had to work practically the whole weekend, except for the time I went to Bob’s party, and the 1 hour each of running on Saturday and Sunday, plus the hour for church. Saturday, I slept at around 1:30, and woke up on Sunday morning at 8am to start working. Sunday night I worked until 1:00am, and couldn’t fall asleep until 2:30. The working part was okay, but in addition to that, I was also incredibly stressed about not finishing. Other people needed my work by Monday afternoon so that they could go to NYC and test it out on end users. By the time I went to bed Sunday, I still had a ton of work to do, so I was really, really nervous.
On Monday morning, I didn’t even take a coffee or a water break and just worked for 4 straight hours. I was done by 1:30 and was even able to pull off writing spiffy test procedure documents. After I was done, I showed it to my boss, who until now had only the vaguest idea of what I had been working on, and he got all excited and impressed at what I had done. Wednesday morning, during our team’s meeting, he even acknowledged me and the work I had done, and said that people should check it out. That got me all excited. Excited enough to work out that night. Monday and Tuesday nights I was way too tired to do anything after work. I couldn’t even go to sleep at a reasonable time, so I’m still up to now, running on reserves. But I plan to sleep an hour earlier tonight, so hopefully I’ll feel a little better tomorrow morning.
So, back to the training. It occurred to me that I will be doing a 5K on the 24th, a tough one at that, (heard there was a mile of uphill), with only a little over 2 weeks to go. Aaack! Panic-mode. So, tomorrow, watch me, I’ll be out running. Early. Watch.

Muse Addict
I have become re-addicted to Muse after hearing their new single, Supermassive Black Hole. Their new song sounds different, but it’s definitely still them. I can’t wait for the new album! Anyway, being re-addicted meant going to their official site, as well as this fan site. The following pictures are from the official site…
This one’s entitled “Muse Addicts”. I have the same EXACT pink shirt. Woo! Thought that was appropriate.
Curiosa Festival in NYC. TB and I were there in 2004. That was easily my best concert experience ever. For now, at least.
The best part about the pictures on their website is it shows the band doing normal things while they’re on tour. Of course, right? But it’s still nice to see a different side of them. This one was taken while touring in Austin, TX. (That’s my shout out to Lyds and the Big Tex - both in Hawaii right now. Aloha!)
How cute is that?!

The boy loves the bikes! Woo! This one was apparently taken in Walmart. Walmart! Matt! *sigh* You were probably dragged out there anyway.
New album release date, come soon! Oh, and a bonus for new albums? New tours! Yaaaaayyyy!

Ouch!
Andy was in town for the Memorial Day weekend. It started out great. We went out with Vanessa and Glenn to the Mole’s Eye, Friday night, with plans to go biking with Els and the group on Saturday. Sunday plans were up in the air, and Monday was set for the first hike up Monadnock.
Well, Saturday, during the bike ride in Vermont, towards the end of the trail, there was a little ditch from where the water flows off the orchard. I was hanging towards the end of the trail to wait for Andy, when all of a sudden, I heard a crashing sound. I slowed down a little and looked back and saw Andy on the ground. I still wasn’t too worried at this point, because well, people fall off their bikes. But I immediately stopped, got off my bike, and took a better look. There was blood all over half his face. So I run up the hill and started freaking out. He stayed calm, and asked for something to put pressure on his face. I didn’t have anything on me, so I gave him one of my biking gloves. (That reminds me, I have to get a new pair!) Not long after, Radka came riding back down to where we were and immediately left for the orchard to call for help. And then, just as she left, Els, and Glenn, who started the trail later than the rest of the group got to where we were. Thankfully, they had more experience with accidents like these and knew exactly what to do. Not long after, Andy, Els, and I were in the emergency room.
No broken bones, no missing parts, well, maybe for a few missing tissues and skin from beneath his left eyelid. He did great in the ER, making jokes about how he wasn’t 15, etc. They basically left it the way it was, except a little cleaner. He was to make an appointment with a surgeon as soon as possible. In my mind I was already thinking, he has to get back to NY soon because I was in no way capable of helping him out.
I wasn’t, but thankfully, others who were more than willing to help were. Els called more than a few times to ask if we needed her to come down, drive 25 minutes, to change Andy’s bandages. I would’ve asked her to, but Vanessa was also more than willing to help us, and was only a 10 min. drive away across town. She came over 2x a day to clean the wounds, and my, Andy looked incredibly better by the time he left on Tuesday morning.
The rest of the weekend was spent eating (went to V’s for brunch, that’s always yummy, and also had an indoor cookout Monday with teeny burgers and sweet corn), watching movies, and recouperating for Andy. Despite what happened, it was still a good weekend. The weather could’ve been cooler. But what’s new. Summer’s here.
