Lunch report
A few of us from work went out for lunch yesterday to try out this stand selling Bratwurst and also to buy pumpkins for carving. Well, the BratMobile (nice, Larry), was nowhere to be found, and neither were the pumpkins.
We ended up going to Armadillos, the Southwestern Rodent place (nice one again, Larry). It was okay, better than Margaritas at least, but it’s no El Pelone. Man, I miss that place.
Anyway, I don’t know why I even started with that. I guess I wanted to note that our two guests (James and Paul) from the UK make for very interesting company, and I also wanted to give a shout out to Larry, who’s discovered my blog. Sweet. Hey Larry!
Before heading back to work, we stopped by one of the local coffee shops. While in line, there was this sweet old gentleman, who did one of those take-off-the-hat hellos. And then, he stopped, and said, “I have 2 questions for you”.
Gentleman: Do you live in my apartment complex?
Me: No
Gentleman: Down by center-blah-blah (I don’t remember where his apartment complex is)
Me: Uhm… no
Gentleman: Well, you can still answer my 2nd question. Do you speak Cantonese?
Me: Nope
Gentleman: Mandarin?
Me: Nope
Gentleman: Where are you from?
Me: The Philippines
Gentleman: Oh! (He’s getting all excited now)
Gentleman: Magandang umaga (Good morning)
Gentleman: Salamat (Thank you)
Gentleman: Mabuhay (~greeting like Aloha)
Gentleman: Maganda ka (You’re beautiful)
Oh, did he made my day. I’ll be visiting that coffee shop more often now. ![]()

huh? whatever
D’s Deeds. Does this even exist anymore? I’ve been stressing out all week about updating my blog, but it’s been so busy at work and I’ve been so freaking tired all the time, I don’t feel like using my computer at all when I get home. I even have to will myself to email my mom and dad. Anyway, enough whining.
It’s flooding again here in Keene. No worries, I’m not affected at all. My friend Kim and her roommates though, have been on voluntary evacuation 2x now - Sunday and tonight. She’ll be staying with me if they actually enforce the evacuations, but fortunately, they have not had to, so, I’ve only been on standby mode. Other than that, nothing’s changed. We even still had work the whole week. The company’s handling it great though. They’re taking care of all our employees affected by the flooding. For one, they’ll be paying for housing for those forced to evacuate. They have a whole list of support and resources they’re providing for affected employees. So that’s cool. It makes work easier to bear.
The weather sucks. Sorry, CB, I don’t understand how anyone can like this weather. I haven’t seen sunlight in over a week. I wake up in the morning and it’s cold, wet, and dark. This morning, I woke up at 7:30, and it really seemed like it was still the middle of the night. I had to read the time a second time before it registered to me that it was morning already. I did have comfort food Tuesday night though - went to Cracker Barrel and had country fried steak with mashed potatoes, carrots and green beans. Yummy, except for the green beans. Oh yeah, I had apple cider too. Remind me to get that for the weekend of the pumpkin fest. But other than vegging out in front of the tv, I really don’t want to do anything else. So yeah, I’ve been great company this past week. Not. Poor Andy he’s had to hang out with me most of this week while sewing the trim on my coat.
That coat is for Vanessa’s halloween party tomorrow. I’m going to be a pretty pimping pimp. Andy’s going to be my scandalous skank. It’s going to be great! Actually, I can hardly look at Andy in his getup, there’s way too much flesh showing. Pictures will be posted. I actually spent most of the night helping out with Vanessa’s decorations. We carved pumpkins too. This is only my second time to carve, and my first time to actually gut the thing. I love it. Tomorrow morning we go at it again. Woo!
I still have a list of things to write about, but it’s 2am in the morning, and this post is bad enough as it is. This doesn’t make any sense, does it. Well, whatever, you’re probably already asleep, so there.
That’s it. Good night.
Shout out to kf: How did the Neil Gaiman signing go? I never replied to your question. I thought about it, but didn’t really have anything witty in mind. What did you end up asking? Oh, and Microsoft was at the job fair I went to this afternoon. Cool give aways, but I didn’t like the girl who was there, but at least the guys were cool. I got the t-shirt and the block puzzley thingy. ![]()

I’m back
I got back from England yesterday from a business trip. I love saying that, it makes me feel so official. It was a little puzzling that the immigration people never batted an eyelash whenever I said I was there for business. I guess I’m starting to look my age. Huh. Oh well. I suppose that’s good.
Anyway, I’m still on England’s time - 4:42am at time of writing, so this will be short. I just wanted say a few things:
1. To Casey, belated happy birthday! Sounds like you had a smashing time.
2. To Daisy and Lyds, thank you for the funny card (perfect graphics + inscription!)
3. To TB, thank you for my autographed Neil Gaiman book! I finally have my own!!!
4. To Neil Gaiman, thank you for my birthday greeting in your dedication.
5. To Vanessa, happy birthday!!!
Lastly, know of anyone who needs 4 tickets to the Franz Ferdinand concert on the 15th of October? I’ll sell them face value + the extra charges. It’s too bad I’m going to miss them. I heard they’re amazing live.
